UCONN VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE

Be Part of Something That Matters.

Spring 2027 VITA Participation Request

Gain hands-on experience preparing real tax returns while making a difference in our community. Students interested in participating for academic credit must request permission to enroll.

ACCT 3265

2 Credits

Develop practical tax preparation skills while helping members of our community meet their income tax filing obligations.

ACCT 4265

1 Credit

Return to VITA in a supervisory role, providing guidance and support to student preparers while developing leadership skills.

Important: Academic Expectations

VITA is a rewarding experiential learning opportunity, but it is also a rigorous academic course. All students enrolled for credit are expected to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and careful attention to detail.

For Spring 2027, independent tax return assessments will account for 40% of the final grade in both ACCT 3265 and ACCT 4265.

20% Basic Tax Returns

Independently complete one or more basic individual income tax returns.

20% Foreign Student Returns

Independently complete one or more foreign student tax returns.

Please note: The first assessment will take place after UConn's add/drop deadline. Students should understand the grading expectations before enrolling.

VITA should not be viewed as an "easy A." Success requires preparation, consistent effort, and a commitment to learning and client service.

Request Permission to Participate

Complete the Spring 2027 participation request form below. Submission does not guarantee enrollment or the issuance of a permission number.
